Willian Jose: Wolves sign Real Sociedad striker on loan

Willian Jose
Willian Jose has previously spent time on loan at Real Madrid, Real Zaragoza and Las Palmas

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed striker Willian Jose on loan from Real Sociedad until the end of the season.

The Brazilian has scored 62 goals in 170 appearances since joining the La Liga side in 2016, including six during in 2020-21.

Wolves have the option to buy the 29-year-old in the summer.

Jose will provide an extra option in attack for Nuno Espirito Santo's side, with Mexican forward Raul Jimenez out with a fractured skull.

Jose is not expected to be available for Wednesday's Premier League game against Chelsea (18:00 GMT kick-off).

    I wont pretend to know anything about this player but good luck to him.

    Refreshing to read that Wolves supporters on here are under no illusions about the clubs dwindling form of late. Makes a pleasant change from the usual "forget what the league table is saying, we are still the best" tripe from the armchair fanboys.

    Wolves are a proper club with proper supporters and well liked.

    The Prem needs teams like Wolves doing well, they have slumped right at the time of last years lockdown, so hopefully a new signing will bring some much needed zest to the squad in difficult times but it does seem to me the squad as a whole are struggling with esteem and moral, cant blame em in these conditions

    Hopefully he can galvanise us. We have been dreadful of late, seemingly unable to do even the basics properly. I’m not sure what has gone wrong, but we are in an alarming spiral. Apart from the wonder goal from Vitinha, we were dreadful last night. Hopefully Jose can help turn it around.

    Absolute no brainer.

    We need a no 9.
    If he fails he goes back to Spain when Raul is well on the road to recovery.
    If he succeeds he costs £17 million as back up.

    Win Win.

    Good signing, people will see straight away when he plays why Wolves chose him.

    I'm amazed Sociedad let him go out on loan though when they're pushing for a CL place in La Liga.

    Wolves, Newcastle and Liverpool have currently the worst form in the league and some have lost key players. So it's a good move to go out and get somebody even on loan to fill the void.

    Wolves fans - I have to congratulate you on this signing. Trust me on this one. This guy is STUPENDOUSLY GOOD. My eyes just about popped out my skull when I seen this. I am a Man Utd fan, so no bias here. You are going to enjoy some good times in the near future with this bloke...

    Not a bad goal record, one in three. half a season should see 6 - 10 goals? not too shabby if he can do that.

    Give us options, yes we signed a 18 yr old in the summer, but think that was looking to the future, Think the club took its eye of the ball and didn't strengthen throughout the team, Wolves didn't have one 1st team player out injured we had 7. but media never got past the one. Loads of potential cup giant killers but really BBC pushed Chorley. i dont get what the media is trying to acheive.

    Strikers are not the problem at Wolves. It is the frustrating negative football and lack of service to the forward players that needs to be addressed.

      Silva is too inexperienced as first option and for whatever reasonn(s) Cuitrone doesn't fit.

    A number of goal collation videos on line. He looks tricky, good footwork and good in the air.
    If those around him can stay fit, he should get a few goals.Small squad really has bit us on the backside this year, but our youngsters continue to look good ( for future, at least). Nuno Disciple
