Revamped Microsoft Store page experience coming to Windows 11 ‘soon’
Back in August, Microsoft started testing some new changes to the Microsoft Store that primarily focused on a new Downloads section and a tweaked Library section. Yesterday, Microsoft started testing a new product page experience in the Microsoft Store. Both the August changes and yesterday’s changes are currently only available to Windows Insiders across all Insider Channels, but according to the Windows Insider blog post, these changes “will also start rolling out to non-Insiders soon.” The Microsoft Store’s new product page experience involves a revamped interface that highlights apps and games that may be of interest to you. Furthermore, for apps and games that have video trailers, you can watch them while browsing without having to leave the Store. If a product page doesn’t have a trailer, it’ll now show a hero image instead. (If you don’t want trailers to autoplay, you can disable that in the settings.) The new product page experience will be available to all regardless of whether you’re using dark mode or light mode. Combined with the upcoming speed boost that’s been promised, the Microsoft Store user experience appears to be on the up and up, and this certainly isn’t the end of whatever Microsoft has planned. Tiny 11 can shrink Windows 11 24H2 disk space requirement by over 80%
The free Tiny 11 tool has long been known in the Windows tinkering community for its ability to significantly shrink down Windows 11, making it take up significantly less space on the computer. Shrunken-down Windows 11 installations that include the major Windows 11 24H2 update (that’s still rolling out) are now possible. If you don’t have enough space on your hard drive or SSD to install 24H2, you can use Tiny 11 to get it at a fraction of the space required. Developer NTDEV announced its new version of Windows 11 optimized for 24H2 via X/Twitter: https://twitter.com/NTDEV_/status/1845181570510209434 With Tiny 11 and LZX compression, the entire Windows 11 installation with 24H2 update only occupies around 3.5GB of space (that’s small enough to fit on a single-layer DVD). By default, Windows 11 24H2 normally occupies between 20GB to 30GB on the drive. Get Windows 11 Pro for cheap Windows 11 Pro Tiny 11 does this by removing all kinds of libraries, apps, and services in Windows 11 that are considered superfluous, such as Clipchamp, Media Player, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft OneDrive, WinSxS and Windows Update, plus many others. That right there is a double-edged sword. By paring Windows 11 down to the bare minimum, it loses a lot of its customizability and serviceability. You can’t update it and you can’t tweak it after the fact, so we don’t recommend it as a go-to solution. It’s more of a last resort option for tight situations or as a tool for testing and development. Further reading: How to declutter Windows 11 and reclaim space
